01. Overview

As there is high demand on the high-grade insulation materials with light weight, better insulation effects, and
wider ranges of usage temperature in line with worldwide energy saving movement, KCC has produced and
provided calcium silicate insulation materials from Silica to High Temperature Silica Board, based on development
of up-to-date technologies and profound experience for several years, and has substantially contributed to energy
saving.

Silica is an insulation materials molded by reacting calcium
silicate powder react with high-pressure heat, and mixing it with
ino-rganic fiber. By applying different reaction conditions, two
types of Silica are available: Silica with crystal structure of
Tobermorite (5CaO.6SiO2.5H2O) has a superior thermal
resistance and H.T.B with crystal structure of
Xonotolite(6CaO.6SiO2.H2O) has an excellent heat resistance.
Since Silica has several fea-tures such as thermal insulation,
mechani-cal strength, heat resistance and water resi- stance,
it is useful for various buildings and industrial equipment
requiring thermal insula-tion and fireproof features.
